For a long time, people in Northern Europe, on the coast of the Baltic Sea know fermented milk that is the simplest and oldest product of acid milk. People discovered that in few days after putting fresh milk in a cool place it starts fermenting, changes its texture and taste. This product was called fermented milk.

Nowadays, fermented milk is made at modern milk processing companies. Fermented milk is obtained by adding the live culture of lactic acid bacteria and allowing the milk to ferment. The product is thick texture with a pleasant acidulous taste. Fermented milk is mainly used a refreshing acid milk drink, it is added to fresh salad instead of sauce, or used to make curd at home. Fermented milk improves functioning of
digestion system, it can be used by those who are lactose intolerant.
